The Narwhal recently published an article about homeowners and why they may not be implementing the FireSmart principles on their properties.
“We know how to protect homes from wildfires. Why don’t more people do it?”
Did you know? FireSmart BC offers free home assessments that give recommendations for property owners to complete to reduce wildfire risk. Since 2021, 7,428 assessments were completed throughout BC, but only 116 homes have completed the work on the assessments, and become FireSmart “certified.”
For a free FireSmart assessment on your home, contact the RDCK Wildfire Mitigation Specialist. The RDCK even offers FireSmart Rebates for work done after an assessment.
